How do I define myself?
I had a conversation recently where someone was asked to "describe themselves." She had a hard time with this and it opened up many closed doors she had. At first you may find this statement not that scary. but when you begin to look closer you see that it can be scarier than you think.
How do you describe yourself?
I am confident, athletic, smart, bossy, driven, bored, etc... I could go one for awhile if I had to. These are all easy ways to describe myself but are they very relevant to real-life and just B.S.
I did some research on the topic and mainly found job interview tips and trust me those are all just cookie-cutter answers and bothered me. How can we dig deep to find the real answer to that question?
When you are sitting at home doing absolutely nothing, what are you thinking about, what are you spending your alone time thinking about. Can these times help use describe ourselves? Are these the moments that people are truly honest with themselves? I believe so.
Those moments of meditations (internally) not everyone can sit and meditate, but the concept is the same. Our true selves come out when we are alone and honest with ourselves, not trying to say what we are expected to say.
I seem to be coming to a cross roads in my life. I have this desire to do something different and become more relevant in my little world. And being honest with myself is the only way to choose a "road."
